Dave Martin

Picture
Dave Martin grew up in a golf family.  His father Don Martin was an outstanding regional golfer having won the N.Y. State Senior Amateur Championship in his competitive years.  Dave was a very successful junior and amateur golfer having won numerous state and regional titles and earning a golf scholarship to Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) where he was a four year letterman.  In addition, his competitive experience includes seven national championships conducted by the USGA & PGA of America.

Prior to his start as the PFC Head Professional in 1982, Dave apprenticed at Wanakah CC (Hamburg, NY), Pittsburgh Field Club and River Oaks CC (Houston, TX).  While at River Oaks CC, Dave shaped much of his teaching foundation having the privilege of working with Dick Harmon, the family patriarch Claude Harmon, and the soon to be famous Butch Harmon.

Dave has served on the Tri State PGA Board of directors and numerous committees.  The Tri State PGA has recognized his service to the industry and his fellow professionals by awarding him the Horton Smith Award for his contribution to peer Education, the Bill Strausbaugh Award for his contribution to mentoring young golf professionals, twice the Patriot Award for his commitment to charities that support the children of wounded and fallen service men and women, the Teacher of the Year and he is a two time recipient of the Merchandiser of the Year award.

As a longtime mentor of young professionals, Dave has seen many former assistant Professionals achieve their own success in the golf industry throughout the eastern United States.

Dave and Karen enjoy visiting California in the winter months where both of their children reside.
